Lots of Living Rooms
As part of a whole-home remodel, these Encinitas living spaces were redesigned to give a family of five flexible places to work, study, unwind, and gather.

Five Bedrooms, Reconsidered
The remodel retained five bedrooms, but several were substantially reconfigured. Rather than simply updating the existing rooms, the layouts were modified based on what the homeowner felt each child needed as the family settled into the home for the long term.

Laundry Where It Belongs
A new laundry room on the second floor puts laundry on the same level as the bedrooms. It was created as part of the larger upstairs reconfiguration, eliminating the need to carry everyday laundry between floors.
Additional laundry in the first-floor mudroom gives the family a convenient second place to handle laundry.

A More Open Welcome
Opening the foyer created a more generous entry, with a curved staircase, open railing, tall windows, dramatic chandelier and circular ceiling detail emphasizing the two-story space.

Flexible First-Floor Living Spaces
The first floor includes multiple living spaces, giving the family options for gathering or spending time separately. Pocket doors allow the more informal living room to be closed off when privacy or quiet is needed.

Upstairs Living Spaces
The upstairs loft spaces extend everyday living beyond the bedrooms, with flexible areas for studying, working, or gathering. Built-in bookshelves and workspace add function, while the larger loft provides another comfortable shared living space.
Part of a Bigger Remodel
The living spaces are part of an extensive remodel that reworked how this Encinitas home functions.
